I never knew you Aiden, but you’ve given me the hope to continue living. I’m going through a really rough time in my life right now, and was even contemplating suicide. You’ve inspired me to never give up, and I thank you for that. May you live on forever in the hearts of so many, Rest in Peace.

I taught Aiden science in elementary school and only just learned of his struggle and his death. I am stunned and heartsick. I offer up my love and prayers to his family and friends that were with him throughout all of his life. I cannot repair or make whole the part of you that has been ripped away by the loss of him. I can bear witness to your pain and not turn my back on others who struggle to find their safe place in this world.

My name is Becky Byrd and I am on the Board of Directors of Transgender FORGE (Florida Organization Regarding Gender Equality). We are a non-profit focusing on education and advocacy for and about the transgender community. I recently put together a service for Transgender Day of Rememberance. My fiance Ryan (who was born female like Aiden) made a video for the service addressing transgender suicide. Aiden has a part in it and I wanted to give you the link in case you wanted to post it here. I cannot tell you how moved to tears I (and many others) were by his story. What a beautiful child Aiden was. We have put the video on YouTube in the hopes that someone similar to Aiden might see it and it might make a difference.
